Has anyone tried to format the Panasonic HS9 HDD to NTFS?

I just got the Panasonic HS9 and found that the hdd is in FAT32. The limitations are known. Also the drive is write protected. I did an attempt to convert-format the drive, but it was obvious that it wouldn't work. So has anyone tried to format the hdd to ntfs with an external converter? This is very easy, but the real question is, can the camera see the ntfs partition? I will do an attempt to write a scene which is larger than 4GB to see how it handles. I also ordered an external converter to do the experiment.. Any attempts are appreciated..
