Canon DM-100. Is it good?

I am, like many others, upset at Canon for modifying the shoe in the Vixia HF100 and HF10 so that you can only use their own microphone. However, since I love the camera in every other aspect, I have no choice but to cave and buy the DM-100. If anybody here own it, can you post your impressions on it? I'm still hesitant to buy it because I don't want to spend $175 on a microphone unless it's amazing. I'm especially interested on how well it performs the telezoom feature, and if it's like the older sibling DM-50 which had a tele feature that had a bit of stereo in it. I can't find any reviews on it, probably because it's too new.
