Vista-HV30-Premiere Elements -- can't capture video.

Has anyone with Windows Vista, a Canon HV30, along with Premiere Elements figured out how to 'capture' video. I'm using a firewire and following the manual step-by-step. I get to the 'capture' screen and the button at bottom is red and says 'stopped'.

I've tried everything from re-installing software to spending hours reading various forums. I also spent over 2 hours with tech support for Canon and Adobe PE4. Yesterday the Adobe tech said they've been having some problems with Vista, Canon HV30 and PE4capturing video.

Sooooo, with that said, anyone else having the same problem and figured it out? If not, we should get the word out that the HV30, Vista and PE4 not compatible. Apparently they are not even aware that they are not working together because when I called both Canon and Adobe 3 weeks ago, asking if Vista, the HV30 and PE were compatible, both companies said yes. Well, if they are, would someone give these folks a call and tell them what needs to be done so they can help the rest of us when we call.

Use HDVSplit to capture your video, it is a free program and works much better than Premiere Elements or Premiere Pro on HDV.

If you are capturing SD video then use the free program WinDV to capture, it also does a better job naming clips.

Here is another topic with the same problem as yours, and the same solution as suggested above
