Playing edited HD video on Canon HG10???

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has succeeded in doing this. I have except that the audio is distorted. The video looks terrific, though.
I edit in Corel Videostudio Pro and really like it. I deleted Premiere from my computer. I did the editing in native AVCHD so that I would be able to play it back from my camcorder via HDMI cable.
When I imported the video from the camcorder, I noted that the video specifications were:
Video Date rate+ Variable @ 16,000
Audio type= Stereo
Audio freq. 48,000
Audio bit rate= 256
Frame rate 29.97
Frame type= Upper field first
Frame size= 1440x1080

Did all my editing, which was a lot then I created the ACVHD file to the same specifications as above.

Share>Create File> ACVHD I selected the H264 (1440x1080) option. There are no options for switching anything else, ie. audio bit rate.

The resulting file transferred back to the camera and shows up for playback. It looks good, but the audio is distorted on playback. As a check, I imported a little bit of video from the camera and then wrote it right back. It played fine. So I suspect something in the parameters for creating the AVCHD file in my editor.

Has anyone pulled this off in ANY editor?????

Oh, a low-res version of the file is on Youtube - a piece of flamenco guitar and singing intended for a Spanish audience.

I hope someone has done this.....

Hi Qui, i havent done this with a HG10 but i can confirm that it works with a Panasonic HDC-SD3. I used Nero7, did editing then exported at 13mbs (same bitrate as sd3) as AVCHD, dumped it into the card and the camera played it fine.

Maybe give Nero a go, perhaps it might lead u to your audio problem.

Hi,
Maybe I should have provided more detail. I imported AVCHD video and placed it on the timeline. Then I imported the audio from Wavelab, my audio editor. That allowed me to customize the sound better. I placed that audio on the timeline and added overlays from still photos. Then I rendered the project out to 1) a YouTube video, 2) a DVD, and 2) an AVCHD file. All the files played on the computer including the AVCHD. There was no sound corruption. It was only when I copied the AVCHD file back to the camera that I saw audio distortion. So, the problem is in the camera's audio processor.
Something there cannot deal with the audio coming from the editor, even though it plays on the computer and works on a DVD. The specs I created for the audio are the same as I see in the properties for newly imported video from the camera.
I know it's something basic like 44000 samples instead of 48000 samples. I'm going to keep looking, but I hoped that one of you with an HG10 had already dealt with it.
Thanks.
Richard

Yeah slight difference on the encoding and the camera cannot decode. Anyways, i would start with a simple scenario of just getting any video file, even standard definition will do, just export that as AVCHD into the camera, see how that goes. If the result is the same, then maybe try Nero7/8, again just a simple export to see if the output audio is compatible. Once u know where u stand, im sure u can adjust your workflow to meet the reqs.

That is a good suggestion. I'll import a simple video with audio from the camera, add a title, and then send it back to the camera. Then I'll add a new audio track to it and again send it back to the camera. I'm pretty sure the first option will work, so I'll be very particular about the way the audio is specified when I record the second audio track.
Thanks for your contribution....

You just have to render to .m2ts in your NLE and then use the GuideMenu software to transfer the clip back to the camera. The clip appears as a yellow question mark on the cam's LCD but it does playback correctly.

Hi Poncho,
Yes, I did exactly as you suggested - and it plays - but with distorted audio. What NLE did you use? I may have gotten my problem from using a wav file from my audio editor as the sound track instead of camera audio. But I would have thought that rendering back to a H264 AVCHD with filename.m2ts would have converted the audio to whatever it needed to be.....
Thanks

Quijote,

That is not me, I just showed you a thread that appears to indicate it is possible.....
