Thanks for introducing me to Vimeo!!!

Before I spent much time here, most of my videos were hosted on "the usual suspects" and that's also where I would do my searches. I'd never heard of Vimeo. But after perusing Vimeo, signing up & using it, Vimeo does not reduce the quality of your vids like Youtube does. (Which is a good thing!)

I'm also not terribly creative, so I troll the various websites for videos that may inspire me, when I want to do something for someone's birthday or a holiday. Anyway, YouTube & Google Videos seem to have their place (IE if you want to see a clip from the Seinfeld episode where Kramer has the Merv Griffin set in his apartment), but the other neato thing about Vimeo is that (AFAIK) all the videos are truly original. (I've yet to see an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" on there!) Yes, I've kissed away my fair share of my life watching some pretty lame ones, but there really are some very creative vids on Vimeo. Alas, my problem now, is that I'm inspired but often don't have the tools or the skill set to do what I want to do.

Nevertheless, it's a very fun place to troll and a great place to host your vids.

I guess I started using Vimeo about six months ago. I've been trying to push it. A lot easier to see what the problem is with some people.I like the ability to allow the user to download the video. And of course the better quality on-line. And it doesn't require any more special plug-ins than YouTube. YouTube still has it's place.

HV30>PE4>Vimeo. First video uploaded. I'll do better next time.

So glad I read about Vimeo on this forum. It's a great site.
Many thanks to Jennifer, Chuck and Eugenia for getting me uploaded to Vimeo with Premiere Elements 4.0. Although I kinda blew it and used up all of my alloted 500MB's for the week, (Eugenia explained how to fix that at: http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2007/...emiere-in-720p/) I'll know better what to do next time.
So, here it is, my very first attempt. I have to work on steadying the camcorder more - maybe one of those small stabelizers that I've been reading about in the HV30 forums.

Interesting. What stabilizers? Do you have a link to which exact thread you are referring to?
thanks.

Good job Karen. I liked it.

At first I thought the scene length was too fast, but I changed my mind, it worked out good that way.

The vertical bars on the side, could it be 16:9 video that is flagged at 4:3. But I can't help you with Premiere Elements.

I really did like it, the airport was a good touch...

IMO Vimeo isn't as easy to use as our Google owned 300 resolution friend.
I go on there and search for a random Italian town and see if I can bring up a video of it. Usually I do. I like to travel but I can't so that's the next best thing. Sad but true.
I don't get much on Vimeo.

It's true you may find more options on Youtube. But there are a couple of reasons for that. First, YT has been around alot longer (I think) and is certainly more popular. Second, half the stuff on YT is violating copyrights. You know they know it but they turn their heads, unless called on the carpet. Vimeo is VERY adamant about not violating copyrights, so all of the videos are (supposed to be!) original compositions.

I like perusing the videos on Vimeo to get ideas but it's hard to filter out all the skater videos & class projects. (Although I think it's a great tool for students to be able to post their projects there.)

Yeah, I understand the copyright thing, but I wish people would upload more home video type stuff. That's how I travel. I was supposed to travel all over Europe this year but I axed that plan for various reasons.
