Question Jvc Gz-hd7

I was in a local store yesterday and I picked up a JVC GZ-HD7 for $650.00. I thought it was a good deal at the time but now that I am home and have read some reviews I'm not so sure? I have not even opened the box yet so I am free to return it for a 100% refund but I would like little advice from the pro's here on this site first. I need a nice camera for normal family videos (school plays, holidays, birthdays and such...) I was excited to find HD for $650.00 to be honest, however, if the camera is as bad as it sounds then I will likely spend a bit more for peace of mind.

Please share you knowledge of the JVC GZ-HD7. Thanks in advance!

Don't Believe everything you read. This is a real good cam and for 650.00. I would buy 2 more for 650.00. Ive seen some great work done with this cam at the Stage6.com before they closed the site that would blown you mind.. alot of pro's use this cam as a back up for high end HD's. But it is not a point and shoot just for fun cam. If you take video very serious and you want the best shot and setup your shoots this is a great Cam. All of these new camera's have problems. and it is always some type of software problem. the cam has been out for sometime and most of the problems have a fix or trick. Sony,Canon,Casio,Pan,JVC,Sanyo ,etc. they all have some type of problems with software. Good luck I think you got a great deal and a good choice.

Thank you for the vote of confidence. My main goal is a super HD picture and I don’t want to have to do a great deal of work to achieve it. I would not say that I’m really looking for anything point and shoot myself, I like to tinker. However, my wife is quite the opposite of me. Being less complex and easy to use is pretty important to her (as well as great HD video). I am continuing to read and research as much as I can find on the HD7. II am at Vimeo now looking at videos taken from several different cameras. Right now I like the Canon HV30 and the Canon HF10 images quite a bit…. But they cost more and I’m not 100% convinced the images they produce are worth the additional cost.

You got a great deal for a great camera for only $650 so get the box opened and enjoy using it!!

"as bad as it sounds" - don't know what you're talking about, the HD7 is a fab camera, you can get great results either in point and press full auto mode or by switching to manual and playing with a few settings yourself.

I wouldn't swap mine for anything.
