Unhappy Precision Camera

Sony has set up factory warranty service with Precision Camera in Enfield Ct. Anyone had experience with them? They have sent me a box I think that is way to big and with little air plastic bags for shipping. I am worried about my emaculate condition VX-2100. My problem with recording, [previous post], is not there anymore but with camera still under warranty I feel I need to have them check it out. Should I send the tape with the problem on it? It is no good. Just a little nervous.

If you are uncomfortable with the amount of packing material they sent then get some more of the bubble wrap and add to what you have. The camera will be OK. Look at the way it was shipped when new and compare that to how you will be packing it for shipping to Sony.

Thanks for your reply. My question is I wonder if they will look at the tape that the problem was on when recording. At the present time camera is recording fine, but since it is under warranty it couldn't hurt to get a professional opinion. One of those problems that you had to be there. Thanks again

Hard to say if they will look at the tape. They probably have a routine they go through regardless of what you say the problem is.

I got my camera back in about 10 days. They cleaned it and marked on the tape do not use damaged tape. Also said use only new tapes to avoid dirty heads. I have never used anything but Sony new tapes in my camera. The only thing I did was go to 80 min tapes.

I would stick to the 60 minute tape as it's substrate is a little thicker and more robust than the 80 minute tape substrate.
