Audio Solution for VX2100E under $550/£300?

Hi guys. Ive spent the last few days reading the posts on these forums about reducing the hiss on the vx2100 and capturing professional audio. Seems like the most solid method is following the 'greg winter' approach. However its a little out of my reach at the moment. I need a cheaper solution for the following situations:

Ill be filming live music events outside and inside festival tents. The music isnt essentially important, but the crowds cheers and any DJ shouts are semi-essential. More importantly, ill be interviewing outside the tent and i need a solution for this also.

So? Any suggestions?

Will a simple Rode VideMic suffice? Or futher with a DXA-10/Nice Rode Mic?

As always, any help is HUGELY appreciated. Cheers guys!

You don't need to worry about the hiss problem if you are recording scenes outdoors or with with a lot of background noise. Any hiss won't be noticeable unless it's pretty quiet. Set your audio controls to manual so the AGC doesn't affect things.

Wicked, thanks for the tip. Thinking ill probably just rent a sennheiser wireless setup for next gig and see what the interviews are like with that!
