Advice on using Sony HC series camera as a deck...

New guy in the forums here.

Here's my question. I was considering buying a deck to upload video to my iMac, but recently a friend asked me to do a wedding for her. I have a Sony VX2000, but the firewire port is messed up. I want to do a two cam setup and figure the HC52 (I live in a smalltown and its the closest available camera because of Wal-Mart) would be decent as a second cam for a wide shot and act as a tape deck as well. Any advice or thoughts on this idea?

A lot of people use a second camcorder as a deck. It normally works if recorded in the SP mode and everything is operating normally.
