Is the autofocus really that bad especially in low light?

It's mentioned here
Quote:
The autofocus failed to impress – the first time Sony has done so in a while. We encountered instances in which the autofocus took as long as five or more seconds to find the focus in moderate indoor lighting

Is there any trick or the correct way to speed up the shooting using autofocus in low light?

Thanks

Man, that bums me out about the SR having low light focusing problems. I'm reading about that more and more. And sure, the "workaround" is to use the manual focus. But that's a hassle if you just want to point and shoot casually, and if you or the subject or both is moving....that sucks.

I truely hope it's not as bad as it would seem to be going by the posts I've come across. I hope by some chance it would work better in my normal evening living room lighting. I wanted this cam over the HF100 because I like it's color better.

Now, I'm just going to have to wait for the review of the CX12. I hope Sony improves on this issue, but from what i've read, it's essentially the same insides as the SR12. What to do!?
