Sony Digital 8 and Video Walkmans - Done for good?

I've noticed that on Sony's official website, they no longer sell any Digital 8 camcorders at all. Also they don't even have any of the Digital 8 Video Walkman VCR's for sell as the last one is listed as not in stock:

http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...ductId=11028832

Does this mean this is the end of the line for the Digital 8? Does anyone know of any new Digital 8 Video Walkmans for sale anywhere? Everywhere I've looked they seemed to have disappeared. Even all of the traditional outlets like B and H, etc, seemed to have them pulled off of inventory. Does anyone know the story on this? Has Sony intentionally pulled all inventories?

I want to purchase a new one, but don't know where to go. Also, does anyone have any experience with any of the Digital 8 Video Walkman series. Which models are the best?

It's been several years since Sony made any Digital8 hardware. I doubt that anyone "pulled" any inventory. All Digital8 hardware has been sold out by now. Your primary option now is eBay. It is unlikely you will find any unused equipment but it wouldn't hurt to look around.

There were only 2 Digital8 Video Walkmans, the GV-D200 and GV-D800. I have the GV-D800 which has a 4" LCD. The GV-D200 didn't have a LCD which would be difficult to use since many options are menu selected. I suspect you would need to have it connected to a video monitor in order to see the menu. I love my D800 but it was a little pricey. I paid $700 in 2001 for it and it didn't even come with a battery or remote control. I had to borrow those items from one of my D8 camcorders. But it sure is cute and works great.

It is sure too bad that Sony killed off the D8 line.
