My HC48 and firewire, always divorcing ;-) Help
Hey guys, awesome site I have red many post but can't seems to find a solution for my matrimonial problem between my Sony Handycam DCR HC48 and my Firewire connection. They always divorce! eheh
In short, the camcorder is being detected, I see it in System/Mangement but everytime I plug in Vista disconnect it before I have the chance to do anything.
My specs: Vista32bit SP1 all up to date (Quad Q6600, 4GigRam, MB Asus P5K). All Sony software installed and updated too.
i.e. put the handycam on it's dock, turn it on. Vista pop up the little window asking to "Import Video", then a few second later (most of the time not even 1 seconde) I hear vista "ding dong" meaning it's now unpluged and of course the software say: "Handycam not found".
I tried many different thing from removing vista security center (off) to moving my firewire pci card to another slots with no success what so ever. I just did a clean reinstallation, same problem. Back in march 2008, when I bought the camcorder everything was going fine on my older computer (was a athlon 64 under vista64). Since I moved to this new hardware, they no longer love each other.
Solution, tip? Any help will be welcome.
Thank you.

Work fine with Vista32 with my brother computer.
I uninstalled my pci card having the firewire connecter, it worked for 10 min then.. return to old habit of not working.
It's probably something with driver or the card .. in system manager, I see no toruble..
anyway, I am tired of this ****.
