Capture Problem JVC GZ-MG140

Hello, I am panicking indeed, since my HDD-Camera (JVC Everio GZ-MG140) is not recognized by Pinnacle, or any other program that I've tried for that matter...
When I connect the USB-cable, Windows identifies it as being a USB Mass Storage, and I can easily access it as one, it is when trying to enter the Capture Feature of a program, that it fails to comply, giving messages as "No Input" etc.

Would anyone happen to know what could be wrong? And if so, what I can do about the problem.
(I really need this to work, in order to make a stopmotion movie)

//Cheers, and hopefully thanks in advance

The is NO program, that I know of, that "captures" a HDD cam...
You HAVE to TRANSFER the movie to your computer..
It should have come with some software..
Otherwise, look in "my computer" after the cam is connected, and simply "transfer" the files...
Then you can edit or whatever

Yeah, but then I just didn't say it right.. I need the function whereas I am able to use it for stopmotion, an in order to that, I need to capture the pictures. (Not the video, that part works fine)

OK, I'm confused now...Pictures???
Are you talking photo's????
Just exactlly are you trying to do???
If it's a "photo" of a video...there are program's that do that...
If you have WIN VISTA, I think the photo program that comes with Vista can do that...
You can also do it with the software that comes with the cam...
I have done that myself..........
Are you talking a photo extract from a video???
Or something else???

Stop motion movies normally require special software to control the camcorder.

Pinnacle will not create stop motion movies. You need an appication software like Stop Motion Pro, istopmotion or monkeyjam. And I don't know if they will work with your camcorder. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop-motion

I think you need to find out how to transfer your video from your camcorder to your computer first. Then try to figure out stop motion.

Stop motion is usually done with camcorders which use Firewire not USB. I do not think your camcorder has Firewire.

Thanks for the reply..

But...
I know what stopmotion is, I know how to get videos and/or pictures from my camera to my computer, and I got Stop Motion Pro..

My problem was the fact that no program seemed to be able to identify my camera, but seeing as you say it may be due to it using USB and not FireWire, I finally got some clearing on the subject...

I do not know what version of Pinnacle you have but all or most versions are the same. For Pinnacle Studio Ultimate version 12 to Capture from DV, HDV and Digital8 camcorders or VCRs (requires a FireWire® port)

I do not think your JVC has a Firewire output port.

Correct, it does not.. However, in Stop Motion Pro, I am able to use my Webcam (also USB), it is just really bad quality, so kind of a shame that I cannot use my camera
