So this newly introduced MPEG-2 TS recording mode is better than the AVCHD we're used to right? Because of a much higher bit rate (~27Mbps) they should yield a crisper image... is that so? I don't know anything about this MPEG-2 TS apart from the fact that MPEG-2 was used in the HDV cameras.

Besides this, the new dock for the high end model has a Firewire 400 port. That's nice.

MPEG-2TS is used in HD7, JVC will use AVCHD first time. We will have two choice of recording mode one MPEG-2 and another AVCHD.

This seems very promising. The advantages of flash/harddrive instant axcess with the video quality of tape based mpeg-2. Seems like an intelligent choice. Let's see how well it's implimented.

GZ hd40 TEST WITH SAMPLEs

I 've discovered an article about GZ HD40 (all in japanese), In fact this is a complete review of that camcorder.
there are some samples in avchd and mpg2-TS (tests are in a park and a room).

Ps:samples are in the middle of the page.

Thanks a lot for the page. Of course I don't understand anything but the samples are very useful.

P.S. With what can we open the .mts and the .tod files on the Mac? I tried with VLC but it crashes.

Lightbulb ummmm

Hello
For your TOD files, i think you have to convert these TOD files in another formats
With Converio software you'll be able to do that (only for PC users), However, there is a version called Iconverio for Mac users too.

for PC users
http://converio.dynalias.org/converio_095.htm

for Mac users
http://converio.dynalias.org/iconverio_189.htm
click on the apple logo

Ps:all versions are demo versions
