Other XLR adaptor methods??

is it possible to avoid paying $300 for juicedlink xlr adaptor and get something less expensive? For eg. can i plug my mic into a mixer (which has phantom power), then from the the mixer into the hv20? I would need a something plug that goes into the mixer and the other end would have to be 3.5mm plug into the camcorder. Is this possible?

Cables are available in many lengths with many combinations of connectors at the ends. You can educate yourself on what you need at B&H's great online catalog (bhphotovideo.com) then either buy from them or locally. But either your mixer has to have a mic level output, or you have to have an attenuator (also known as a a pad) to get the signal level down from line level to mic level. If you try to feed line level into your mic level input you will get garbage.
