match output aspect_need help
Hello all, have been putting this off for sometime. I need help again. Have tried to figure it out myself, but just cannot get it. I am using Vegas Pro 8.
Here is my problem I am making a slide show of a trip we took sometime back. As I put the pictures on the timeline they have down the sides or across the top black lines. It is the “match output aspect”. I can fixed this output one picture at a time. But when you have 200 pictures, it becomes work. Is there anyway to connect a group of pictures and change the aspect in all of them at the same time?
While we are at it I have proDAD Adorage in my Transitions window, Its preset is Default. I can drag the Default to the time line and it opens up a lot of things I would like to use and have in my program , but I have no ideal how to get them to the timeline. I cannot drag them.
It has a yellow and blue dot in front it, if that means anything. I know it is an outside program. Does it work with Vegas?
Thank you very much. I don’t know what I would do without you folks

Yes. Hold control and drag the select tool over all the pictures (once they are on the timeline), then right click and select "video event Pan/Crop". Then do whatever you need to.
All of the pictures are in the same aspect ratio, right? If any are different you will have to do them individually.

Matt it is not working for me. I hold the control down and drag the select tool over all the pictures. It does nothing. I even selected the same picture, a number of times so I would have the same aspect ration. When I drag the select tool over all the pictures and right click the “video event Pan/crop” is black out. I cannot get to it. I have tried clicking the track view, it will let me do one picture. I know I am probably doing something wrong but I cannot get straight. Please help if you can.

Don,
With stills. If you are getting bars on the side, Briefly
1. I turn off "Maintain Aspect Ratio" (If the still images are close)
2. Right click on the correct image, select "Copy"
3. Select with left mouse the first image you want to fix. Hold the shift key and select with left mouse key the last image you want to fix. The ones you want to fix will all be highligted. Now press the right mouse button and select "Past event attributes" and the attributes will be carried to all the others.

Rich it works. Thank you. I have struggle for about two weeks now. I just could not figure it out. May I ask where did you get the information? Was it in the in the tutorials section of the program or is there a book I need to buy? If it is in the tutorials section I will boot myself for you.
Thanks again

Easy way #1: Open Pan/Crop, Right-click the image, and choose "Match Output Aspect"
Easier way #1: Use a script to set them all at once. In fact, scripts can even automate the images for you! See this:

This is an example of how Excalibur can automate the process for you.

It does work. One of the dots means it's not multi-threaded. The other will mean it's not 32bit.

Don, Edward's site is a good information source: http://www.jetdv.com/vegas/forum/index.php
I also have an old book for Vegas 5 by Douglas Spotted Eagle. I think he released a new version for Vegas 8. Search his name on amazon.com
There are a lot of tutors on youtube.com. Search for Sony Vegas.
