Question hd7 ilink/firewire use

Hi all again
OK, now another question. I have read the manual (which is poor to say the least) and can't figure out how to dub to my dvd recorder using that firewire connection. I recorded on the camera in FHD mode (and even tried 1440cbr), switched the cams output for that firewire connector from DV to 1440cbr and still had no signal. My sony dvd recorder saw the camera because when I switched off the camera, the tv went from blk to blue screen. How do I get this to work? I can get video from the S or RCA video jacks to the recorder, I want to get the best SD video I can get until I can afford an actual HD recorder (blu-ray unit). Thank you, Rick.

I am afraid why you need stand alone DVD Recorder! I guess you should use supplied "PowerDirector" for creating DVDs, benefit is that you can applly so many features, which maybe you will not get in DVD Recorder, I always use supplied software for creating DVDs.

As Rush as said, the best thing to do is use the supplied software and utilise the DVD burner in your PC.

However, I guess you're after the simplicity of plugging in to your DVD recorder directly.. Now so far, you seem to have done everything right, however the problem that you are most likley facing is that your DVD recorder is not able to recieve the HD signal (as most are designed for SD) This is an issue with the DVD recorder, not the camera.

If you want a one touch solution, try looking at the CU-VD40 Share Station, that will record your Full HD footage on to normal DVD's, and also play them back in full hd too! These are a lot cheaper than Blu-Ray Burner/player units and offer good value for money. You will get aprox 40mins on a DL DVD.

Cheers.

CU-VD40 is PC less solution, who ever are not having computer for them it is very useful, use your laptop for creating DVDs. And I would rather install Bule-ray recorder rather spending on CU-VD40.

Better to use computer's DVD writer for creating DVDs.
