SDR 200 won't work on a mac?

So I finally switched camps to a mac after hearing how much better it would be for video/photo editing etc. I have all my files from my panasonic SDR H200 ready to go- only problem, I can't even play the files on my mac. What gives? Am I stuck with a PC for this camera? The apple website says this camera is compatible with imovie 08, panasonic says it's compatible. What am I doing wrong?

brand new mac, imovie 08. The same files play fine on the PC.

I haven't tried directly downloading from the camera yet, I let my bro-in-law borrow it, but the files were originally downloaded from the camera using the SD Copy utility around here, maybe that made a difference?

EDIT- moved to the computer forum.
