Audio (voice) problem with video

Hi, it's me again

So I started to shoot a short movie with my HV30 (nothing serious, just playing around with friends), and there is a problem I can't solve.

Once I capture the footage from the tape and I run it on windows media player, there is no problem at all. But once I try to edit it in Adobe premiere Pro CS3, there is a sequence with dialogues, and all I can hear is a repeated noise.

The scene starts with a door opening, and then there is like 2 min of speaking, but instead of hearing voices, I hear the sound of the door opening (which is the first second of the sequence).

Any Ideas how to solve it? And again, when I play it on windows media player there is no problem at all, I can hear everything. And I also tried to capture it again, and the problem remains.

Thank you,
Machete.

I use Sony Vegas, not Adobe & this is a long shot, but....

Do you have alot of memory? Have you tried it right after rebooting? Have you tried converting the source to something smaller? Reason I ask is when I was still with Sony Vegas 4, I would encounter similar problems (not exact, but similar weird things. IE, the original would play fine, the preview clip in Sony Vegas 4 would play, but after rendering, all I'd get is a black screen with the audio.) I suspect my problems were related to memory (eventhough I had alot), since if I converted the source clips to something smaller (IE WMV), everything would be fine.

Could be a few things. Need more info. PC Specs? Audio settings in Premiere? Also, when you import a clip, keep an eye on the lower right of your screen. If there's a blue progress bar that says "conforming audio," wait until it's finished before you do anything at all. Premiere is picky that way.

Thanks for your answer Silly Rabbit.

I don't think it's a memory problem. Here is a screenshot of the corrupted sequence :

You see there is a repeated sound that replaces the discussion. One thing I forgot to mention, at first the sequence was working, I was hearing everything well, then I don't know what happened and I have this problem. For the blue bar, I've waited until it recognizes the sample (two times, right?), and then I started to work with it. For the audio setting I don't think it's the problem because all my other discussions can be heard well.

Comp spec :

Amd dual core 5200+
1Gb Ram (damn I need more...)
2x80 Gb hard drive (with only 30 remaining)
X800 XL

Wow. That's interesting. Clearly from the waveform the problem is in the clip itself, not just a playback issue.

How are you capturing? If you capture within Premiere itself your files should be m2t, not mpeg, I think. That could be an issue if you are capturing with another app and then importing.

Also, with the small amount of memory you have, I'd for sure be disconnected from the Internet and shut down all unnecessary programs in the BG, including virus and anti-spam checkers...

You might also try the trial version of Aspect HD from Cineform and see if the problem re-occurs if you set up a Cineform project and capture within that.

AMD chips are rumored not to play well with Premiere but I have a hard time believing that's it.

Very curious, this...

Edit: Found an interesting couple of links over at the Adobe Premiere forums. You might check there for others with a similar problem or post your issue there...

http://premierepro.wikia.com/wiki/F...rmat _files%3F

http://tangentsoft.net/video/mpeg/edit.html

Have no idea if these are even remotely related but worth a read...

Also suggest you check with Adobe to make sure you are meeting System Reqs for the program to run properly.

http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/systemreqs/

They're not casual suggestions. They're minimum requirements. Looks like you got some upgrading to do.

But that might not be the source of your audio problem.
