Question DCR-SR100 Problem!

Camera is 1 1/2 old and have used it maybe 10 times. Never droped, wet, excessive cold or heat. Today after recording, downloaded video and after that the following happened:

Have no Image on LCD or Viewfinder. The Icons for battery life, HDD capacity, return & menu all show and can perform all functions on LCD as normal, including play any previously recorded videos on HDD. Only able to record audio.

Called Sony and performed all suggested troubleshooting such as: fully recharge battery, run on AC only, reset but nothing worked.

Any suggestions?

Tky!

Does the lens cover open when you turn power on?

Yes, it opens just fine.

Sony tech told me it should be some kind of hardware issue. I think is more like a software/programing problem, what do you think?

Tky!

I've had mine for over 2 years with no problems. Sounds like the optics. I would try zooming in/out a few times to see if that jars it. Was thinking the hard drive but since your recording audio that rules out the hard drive. Does the hard drive make any weird noises when trying to record? You might end up sending it to sony. Do a google search to see if others have had the same problem. Maybe try removing the hard drive and put it back in (if its out of warrenty). Did you try recording to the flash drive to see if it does the same thing?

Nothing on google. HD makes zero noise. I will try recording to the flash drive. Yes it is out of warranty. Can you give me some tips as to remove the HD?

Tky again!

Do a google search for Sony SR1 hard disk replacement. This is as close as you will find on what to do. Should be similar.
