lubrication for XL1S lens?

the focus and zoom rings on my lens are feeling a bit scratchy....

is there a special type of lubricant I should use, or do I need to have it professionally serviced?

thanks!

The scratchy feelig may in fact be gear friction which results from dust, sand, dirt etc. Any lens should be sent out as it is almost impossible to replace all the elements back if not professional.
