Can This Be Done?
Hi Guys,
Two questions: I am using Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0
1: I want to take video using my Sony dcr pc1000pe and create a video file that can be used on a website, therefore needs to be small and easily playable, can I use elements for this? If so what settings and where are they? I am a novice guys!! Can adobe produce Shock Wave Files? if not how can I do this having used adobe?
2: I have some existing footage which is MPEG2 and 20 mins long which is 500MB in size, can I do anything to make it a tiny file size fo website use? Can adobe 3.0 import it for website fle size use? Is there a way to convert it to shock wave and how? can it be done with any free sofware without odd banners?
Sorry I guess thats a few questions! but my point is I want to take and edit video and end up with ideally shock wave or website playable small files. Thanks for any suggestions.

I cannot find any information on that model camcorder at all, are you sure that is the correct model? Is it tape, hard drive, flash drive, DVD?
I don't think you want Shock Wave, maybe FLV or WMV. FLV and H.264 (MP4) are the most used formats for the web today. They are good quality and small size (small can be relative in video terms).
I would recommend upgrading to the current version, it handles more formats more easily. Sometimes it is necessary to convert the files to AVI for editing but there are free tools to do that.
I highly recommend posting your questions at muvipix.com, lots of very experienced people there to help you.

You probably have a Sony DCR-PC1000 and if it has a PE it might indicate the country it was designed/sold in.
There is a review here: http://www.camcorderinfo.com/conten...rder-Review.htm
It is a MiniDV camcorder and the video is transferred with IEEE-1394 Firewire.
I use .WMV for computer viewing and Internet applications because it is easier for me.
If you are using Adobe Premiere Elements, I would follow Chucks advice as I have no experience with that software.
By its nature, video is large. You could encode you MPEG-2 file to a more compact format like .WMV or H.264 (MP4).
