FCP log and transfer

I am having an issue exporting h.264 video with qt conversion. My settings are as follows:

h.264, mov container
30fps
auto keyframes
frame reordering checked
limited to 10mbps
multi-pass encoding
set to de-interlace source at 1920x1080

Any video created appears to be interlaced - edges are jagged and lines are clearly visible in text and other geometry.

I am importing avchd video as 1080p 30fps (DVCPRO HD-1080p30) from an HF10 set to 1080p30fps.

When using the exact same encoding settings in imovie, the resulting video is perfect. I am new to FCP and unsure where I am going wrong. Any help is appreciated

here is a pic incase my terminology is not correct.

inspector in qt is showing that the FCP imported/qt encoded footage is actually 1888x1062 instead of 1920x1080. Not sure where the problem is.
