E:31:00 Format Error on DCR-SR45

I bought this camera 366 days ago and I just got this error. I was out shooting in the morning and the battery was low and then it started flashing - Recovering Data. The next time I turned it on I had the E:31:00 format error. The camera had my son's first birthday on it and a once in a life time trip memories from our vacation. Does anyone know of a way to fix this and get the video back?

FYI - This was my first foray away from Cannon and into Sony land and I know deeply regret making the move.

No luck

So no luck. There's apparently nothing you can do and the camera is shot. The only hope I have of recovering anything is to send it back to Sony and have them supply me with a refurbished model. I cannot even begin to describe how disappointed I am with this product. I lost some of my most cherished memories. Sony has become a "has been" in the electronics space having lost out to every major competitor in every market and this will teach me to have put my faith in them. Back to Canon to stay.
