I need to transfer data from DCR HC42 to my laptop. But I did not receive any s/w Cd with camcoder. Can someone tell me from where to download the s/w?

and which versiion of s/w is needed..

I don’t think you need a software that came with Sony camcorder to capture video. As long as your computer has a firewire compliant driver or an analog capture card, the video can be captured. Do you have a firewire port? There are lots of freeware like WinDV which can capture video from firewire connection without any problem. Or PC has Windows Movie Maker included in newer than Win98 system.
