Is that the same as a 740? There is an E-bay listing for a DCR TRV 740 REC and I was not sure what tje REC means. Also will either if they are different record from VCR? Will both play old analog 8mm jand Hi8 tapes?

There was only the DCR-TRV740 as far as I know. I have no idea why they added the REC after that model number. If you want to see all of the TRV740 features look at the spreadsheet near the top of this forum.

The TRV740 has both both S-Video and composite inputs and outputs so it should record from a VCR and it should also play 8mm and Hi8 analog tapes.
