Could trv 950 (NTSC) play back in PAL

Could trv 950 (NTSC) play back in PAL?
I know that it RECORDS in NTSC but some of the camcorders recodes in one format but can play back both PAL and NTSC. Could Sony trv 950/ do that? Or is there anyway to convert NTSC signal to PAL without quality loss?
Thank you

incompatible, to my knowledge

the only common interface between PAL and NTSC that I know of is ... DVD. Make a DVD in either Pal or NTSC and you'll be able to play on a dvd player or computer, and output it to a PAL or NTSC TV. A love/hate kind of relationship, and dumb too!

Technically this is correct, however the video displayed from the DVD will not be converted to PAL if it is natively NTSC. It will play, but not technically the same as if it were PAL.

There is no easy way to convert NTSC to PAL. Signals are to diferents to be converted, the main problem is the number of pictures per seconds. You will always have a quality loss.

However, you can read PAL tapes on a NTSC TRV950 (I do that), but not in all cases. When you read a PAL tape on a NTSC 950, you can have:
- An output on the camera (screen and visor);
- an output trought USB;
- an output throught video composite;
- no output throught Firewire (iLink).

I didn't test the super video output. The iLink limitation must be (according to me, it's just a supposition) a software limitation. If anyone knows a solution, I will be glad to hear it.

Flonc.

P.S : I made the tests on a NTSC compatible television and a computer, so I don't know if the resulting signal is NTSC or PAL.
