Digital Camcorder Features Excel Spreadsheet

Attached is an Excel spreadsheet (in a Zip file) containing all the information I have laboriously complied together of all Sony/Hitachi Digital 8 camcorder models that I currently have info on.

If you have any corrections, omissions or additions, as well as additional features/models not covered (I'll put in other manufacturers if information is supplied), send me a PM note or email me at the address contained at the bottom of the spreadsheet. If you have more than a few additions, change the spreadsheet highlighting the changes in a bright red and I will incorporate and update the Master spreadsheet.

Looking at the information, it's amazing how many variants Sony made, and trying to figure what market they could possibly be addressing with the variant.

Hitachi seems to have no useful variants except possibly .5 lux sensitivity (which doesn't necessarily mean the same as Sony's 1 lux min)

02/23/2004 Original version (Downloaded about 10 times)
02/24/2004 Added 103,110,510 models and version info (Downloaded 44 times)
02/29/2004 Added TR7000, Hitachi models, changed filename, added list of odd Sony model #'s tbdl (Downloaded 75 times)
03/13/2004 Added Many DV models, DVD models, rearranged rows, added and separated out rows etc. Changed Name to reflect data being for many camcorder types and added date to name so confusion would not occur (downloaded 52 times)
03/21/2004 Added section for hidden features that can be enabled by a service remote or PC emulator, Added a few Hi-8 for comparisons (downloaded 46 times)
03/26/2004 Added F stop minimum values, a few extra minor models
03/11/2005 Added 280, 380 and 480 models, some minor updates

If you need a free Excel Viewer, go to;

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=EN

Hope you find this useful,

Ira

Thanks for all your work. Unfortunately I can't view it but I hope others here can? I don't have Excel but I do have MS Works. But Works just chokes on the file.

My DCR-TVR310 has the following shutter speeds. In your spreadsheet it was left blank. Thought yo might like to know. Other than this I think you did an outstanding job. Thanks!

A lot of Sony digital camcorders have a button labeled "Digital
Effect". Press that button and turn the selector dial. It will
rotate through the following effects: > STILL <> FLASH <> LUMI <>
TRAIL <> SLOW SHTR <> OLD MOVIE >. Stop on SLOW SHTR. Push on the
Selector dial to select SLOW SHTR. Then rotate the selector dial
again and you should get 4 choices.
1 = 1/30th sec.
2 = 1/15th sec.
3 = 1/8th sec.
4 = 1/4th sec.

Thanks for all the work, Ira! I'm going to save this information because I've NEVER seen so much of it all in one cross-referenced place!

Kudos to you!

Thanks Bob. I saw your post and it looked very familiar to me. I am glad my post helped you with your 8mm flicker problem. These are only the digital effects shutter speeds. There are the regular shutter speeds also.

Make this topic "sticky" so it is at the top and easy to find?

Is there any interest in bringing in some of the manuals for Sony MiniDV that I've found? (first thread of the Sony 19/22/33 now called HC20/30/40 forum)

If you have a camcorder that isn't on the list or a feature that you think should be added, send me the info and I'll incorporate it.

Also please check the camera's you own and check the information for accuracy.

Send me a PM or e-mail with any additional info.

Regards,

Ira

New version of file. This adds TRV280, TRV380 and TRV480 models and a few minor updates and text changes.

Anyone who has info on exact remote model numbers or whether the buttons are illuminated or any other info they can confirm would be appreciated it. Please only send data that

A. you believe is wrong or
B. that can be confirmed or filled in, if you have access to the actual model.

PM me or see email address inside Excel file

See 1st entry of this thread.

Regards,

Ira
