Exclamation Capture problems!

Hey Im having problems with capturing video using DV IN or OUT. I have DV OUT set on in the options and plug the firewire into my computer and camera and nothing happens!, I just get a little text in the corner saying DV IN on my camera which sort of flashes the LCD screen..when i look on my comp it says DV connection not established and I can not find it in hardware devices.

Im using a IEEE 1394 card that is OHCI Compliant with a 4 to 6 pin good quality firewire(I have two cables and 3 firewire slots so i know that is not the prob).

I have had no problems with different cameras in the past with it..I just cant capture either way into my camera or out of my camera. Is there a setting I am missing or something I am not doing right.

I hope somebody can help me!, thanks in advance,

Oh btw my camera is a Sony DCR-PC105E PAL
Windows XP Home
1GB RAM
ATI 9700PRO

Talking

I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH MY 330, IT REALLY CAN DEPEND ON WHAT PROGRAM YOU ARE USING TO CAPTURE VIDEO WITH. IF YOU USE THE SONY INCLUDED PIXELA TRY REMOVING THE MEMORY STICK B4 YOU CONNECT THE FIRE WIRE, SOME TIMES THE COMPUTER ONLY "SEES" THE MEMORY STICK AS ANOTHER DRIVE AND PROHIBITS VIDEO CAPTURE. I ONLY HAD THIS PROBLEM USING PIXELA. IF TOU HAVE WINDOWS XP HOME AND MOVIE MAKER 2 THE INSTANT YOU CONECT YOUR CAMERA IT WIIL SAY NEW HARDEWARE FOUND AND IDENTIFY YOUR CAMERA EVEN WITH THE MEMORY CARD IN THE CAMERA. LET ME KNOWW IF THIS HELPS.

FIRST
WHAT CAMERA ARE YOU USING?
THE 330 HAS BOTH USB (IN WICH CASE YOU HAVE TO INSTALL THE USB DRIVER FROM PIXELA)
OR FIRE WIRE THAT SHOULD HAVE HAD THE DRIVER INSTALLED WHEN THE FIRE WIRE WAS PUT IN
SECOND
ON RARE OCASIONS YOU COULD HAVE A BAD CABLE
DOES YOUR CAMERA "SEE" THE MEMORY STICK IN THE USB MODE? THAT WILL TELL YOU IF THE CABLE IS BAD. LET ME KNOW HOW YOU'R GETTING ON.

Pc-105e

Hi guys, i am experiencing exactly the same problem. I tried to uninstall the IEEE port and reinstalled it with .inf files but it didn't work. Reset of the PC105e works neither. Any other ideas. Thanks.

novice issue with XP and drc pc110

I too seem to be having a very similiar problem.

I just got this camera from a friend, without software. I've hooked it up to my XP pc without luck. I'm not really sure what the menu settings should be set to as the instructions barely mention PC's. I've tried accessing the video with Movie Maker and Adobe Premier. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i.link

You need to buy a firewire cable that complies with i.link. Apparently, all sony camcorders only works with i.link cables. Buy it on ebay is fine.

I've assume it wrong! My old firewire cable works fine with optura 200 and Sony Hi-8 camcorders but did not work with TRV950 and PC5 until I bought another unbrand firewire cable that states i.link compatible. I learned this requirement on Sony website. Anyway, I think some recent made firewire cables are i.link compatible. But be sure to check for it if you're using a Sony cam.

There is no difference. If it meets IEEE-1394 or IEEE-1394a specifications it meets the i.Link specifications (and the Firewire specifications). I'm using two CyberPower cables (part number FW1394-6-4) on two computers with two Sony camcorders.

Theres 2 posts floating about on here with the same problems has anyone had any joy yet? Is Sony to blame, I cant see the point in having an expensive camcorder that cant make movies, its stressing me out.

My PC109 has been back at Sony for 2 weeks now they have not sent it back, I just phoned and got told its still with the engineers she will get back to me. The thing is i sent a letter with it LETTING SONY KNOW theres a lot of people on here still pissed with the Sony's firewire / ilink problem (including myself). I have very little faith in Firewire anymore i think they should of also had an additional usb2 port for capturing DV.
Ill keep everyone posted on how good or probably more likely badly Sony deals with this problem.

Sony wants you to buy their Ilink cable Sony could just adapt standard firewire cable.
