Optura Pi vs GL1
I've had the Optura now for close to a year and have been happy with it. Well, I just bought a GL1 and did some side by side shooting (indoors, using Progressive Scan mode and Frame mode, respectively) for comparison. Am I crazy? I don't see a huge improvement! Any thoughts?

Ed - this would be an interesting post for DV.com. I get the feeling that on that site if it Ain't Sony it ain't a camera. BUT it is a pain getting registered and then using the site.

This is, of course, a subjective comparison.
If you really want to get an objective view of the output, check out this site:
http://www.pima.net/standards/iso/tc42/wg18/kp_testchart.htm
Download and print off the chart - or better yet, find yourself an industry standard - and shoot some video with both cameras. The odds are you will see the GL-1 with a lot more fidelity in the smaller "notch" areas of the chart.
Or you can check out John Beale's site, where he's already done some comparison testing in this regard (unfortunately not with the Optura):

Re: Optura Pi vs GL1
Ed,
Do you feel that the GL1 is too big to lug around comared to the Optura. Sorry for such a simplistic question but I am considering both of them and I can't seem to find a store that has the GL1 in stock so I can handle it. Also, what about still photos on the GL1. Are they better than the Optura 100? Is a GL1 for $1800 (after rebate) worth the price over a substantially lower priced Optura in your mind? Thanks in advance for your response. I am glad you posed the initial comparison.
