Welcome to the New Users Group

The Canon XL1, XL1S, GL1 and GL2 are professional grade camcorders that have been both embraced by consumers and pros. The camcorders offer a professional level of control and a professional picture at a relatively affordable price. I'd like to welcome all XL1, XL1S, GL1 and GL2 owners into our new users group. Please use this users group to ask questions, and talk and debate about the camcorders. Hopefully we'll have some great discussions.

Re: Welcome to the New Users Group

I am looking at the Cannon GL2 the Sony TRV950 and the VX2000.

Most of my work will be video taping sporting events (soccer, lacrosse and football). Do any of these products have an advantage in this area? Thanks.

All 3 are Good

Quite frankly they are all very good. Best thing to do is try all three before you buy.

The biggest advantages of the GL2 are 30 fps frame mode, 4-track audio.

There is a lot of debate whether the VX2000 or GL2 shoots better under a variety of conditions. The message to take away from that is that the arguing still continues: meaning both shoot a lot alike.
