WIDE screen at gl2
Hello fellow dv users!
Im new to this forum, and please advise me if this topic has been discussed before.
I am confused about using 16:9 wide mode in gl2 and editing/exporting it.
I shot an image with the 16:9, imported it to Adobe premiere by ntsc wide screen mode. edit it. and export it to .avi file, and when i viewed it the the 'real media player', it was stretched vertically, just like seen on LCD screen when i was shooting.
I read image is still 720*480 on 16:9 mode. so, is this stretching pixels to fit the wide screen? or.. how can this be explained?
what is the best way to deal with the wide screen issue, (im trying to shoot a sequence using wide screen, add effects with images from photoshop, via after effects and screen it with wide screen capable projector.)
If some of you have used the wide screen to shoot, edit, and view it, please give me an advice.
appreciate this forum
rich.
and.

Well its not 720x480.
I cannot remember off the top of my head the correct width for 16:9 I just know it is different from 720x480. Most people who want to shoot 16:9 prefer to use anamorphic adapter that gives a 16:9 image with the resolution loss of electronic 16:9.
Hope this helps,

Re: WIDE screen at gl2
Dear Richard,
This is my first time on the forum, but I can luckily say I can answer your question. I edited for a client who had shot on a gl1. When it was time to export, I had the same problem. But, I was lucky enough to find a website with a converter plug-in. These are the steps you'll have to take:
1. Go to http://www.mykaskin.freeserve.co.uk/myksvideopages/plugins.html
This was made by a gentleman who has designed some free plugins to use in Premiere 5 and above, exactly for what you're doing.
2. Click where it says to d/l all filters, about halfway down the page. D/L to a desired, but easily remembered spot.
3. Export your film, still in 16.9 ratio, as an avi. file.
4. Start a new project in Premiere. This time, select "Standard 48Hz" as your ratio.
5. Import your film into the project. It'll look vertically stretched for the time being.
6. Right click on your video track. Go to Video Options > Motion.
7. On the right side of the screen you will see a "Load" button. Click on it, go to the folder where the plugins are located, and load "16-9 to 4-3 Full Screen."
8. Render your project and export to tape or avi. Now your video will be widescreen AND play back that way on a 4-3 tv or viewfinder.
This should help. Please reply to my email and tell me whether it came in handy or not or if you have any other problems.
Thanks,

Same problem, but the plug-in website is now gone!
I'm having the same troubles, GL2, cannot export correctly. There is no electronic anamorphic setting using Adobe Premiere 1.5 (pro). Not sure of the best solution.

The thread you replied to is 5 years old.
I shoot with a GL2 and edit in Adobe PE. I use widescreen and the only times I have had issues with aspect ratio has been my fault.
Please be more specific and I will try to help you.
