Secrets Of Jvc Gy Dv5000-exposure Hint
For those Videographers who use AUTO-IRIS with the JVC GY DV5000
1) For shooting with Auto-Iris, set to SPOT L via the external switch. Enter the MAIN menu and scroll to Camera process. Set the SPOTL/Back L to HIGH.
2) Now set the GAIN for GAIN L to -3db via same menu.
3) Set zebra stripes for outside shooting to OVER 95%. This is found in the LCD MENU. For close-up shots, place the Zebra stripes to 70%-80%
4) For outside shooting with AUTO-IRIS, place the proper ND filter on, then increase shutter speed to 120. You should still maintain -3db and the HIGH SPOT L setting. You can also add an ND4 or ND6 filter as well. The user may also decide to place the COLOR MATRIX to STD. or WARM from the off position as this will increase any chance of washed-out colors on extremely bright days.
5) The videographer who chooses to utilize the manual lens iris can also use the above settings except just skip the HIGH setting in the first paragraph.
6)Most professional videographers do not use auto-iris. So, in this situation, just press the AUTO-IRIS button found on the lens grip and back off 1/2 an f-stop. This should get you in a good exposure range when used in conjunction with the ZEBRA stripes.
Good Luck
