Adobe CS3: Official release date

Posted by Adam Nielson

Creative professionals rejoice! Adobe announced March 27th as the official launch date for Creative Suite 3. The software maker says this will be the largest release in company history, and is planning accordingly. Adobe will celebrate with a global launch in New York City, and plans to webcast the whole shindig live.

Adobe officials have been tight lipped on exactly what we can expect to find in the CS3 bundle, but it's a given that Photoshop CS3 will be there, along with other popular apps like Illustrator and InDesign. We could see a few new additions to the list as well. Adobe's recent acquisition of Macromedia gives them several great products to with which to sweeten the deal.

This is also especially good news for creative types who were among the first wave to adopt an Intel based Mac. For months, we've been running Photoshop through Apple's emulation software, and it's an experience that's less than stellar. Photoshop CS3 will be the first version to support the new macs naively, and is probably enough to help many holdouts make the switch.

At this point, details are sparse, but at least we have a firm date. In the mean time, You can check out complete vacuum of information at Adobe's What's in the Box site. Watch for more details on the 27th.
