July 2, 2007 – Adobe announced this morning that it will begin shipping Creative Suite 3 (CS3) Production Premium and Creative Suite 3 Master Collection. CS3 Production Premium includes After Effects CS3 Pro, Premiere Pro CS3, Encore CS3, Photoshop CS3 Extended, Illustrator CS3, Flash CS3 Pro, and Soundbooth CS3. It sells for $1699. The Master Collection includes all this plus InDesign CS3, Acrobat 8 Pro, Dreamweaver CS3, Fireworks CS3, Contribute CS3, and Version Cue CS3. That bundle sells for $2499. Both are available for download immediately. The bundles are available in Windows and Mac versions. The Windows editions include additional components: OnLocation CS3 and Ultra CS3, both re-branded editions of Serious Magic’s DVRack and Ultra. OnLocation will run on Macs with Boot Camp. Ultra CS3 can only be run on Windows. Adobe purchased Serious Magic in 2006.
Creative Suite 3 products first starting shipping in early 2007. Most pieces of software in the bundles are also available for individual purchase as well. Adobe hopes that the powerful suite is enough to match Apple’s Final Cut Studio and Avid Xpress for the lucrative and competitive post-production market. Adobe still lacks credibility amongst the professional video community due to stability issues with early versions of Premiere.
