Best Still Cameras for Video in 2007

Top Video Our sister site DigitalCameraInfo.com today released the best-of list for the top performing digital cameras of the year. Hitting the top of the list for best video performance in the form of a dedicated still camera is the Canon PowerShot S5 IS, with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 not far behind. 
 
Right now, the standard benchmark for digital still cameras is 640 x 480 pixel resolution at 30 frames per second. There is, however, the rare breed of hybrids that mix high definition capabilities with the body of a still camera such as the Canon PowerShot TX1 or Kodak EasyShare Z812 IS.
 
For users who simply want small compacts for easy uploading to sites such as YouTube or Photobucket, users some choices in this emerging class of cameras and camcorders:
