Build Your Own Podcasting Kit

Posted by Richard Baguley

Digital Producer magazine has put together a nice little article that describes how to create your own audio podcasting kit; although it’s designed for audio podcasting, the products they describe would also be good for doing voiceovers for videos.

They talk about buying all of the components separately, but you could also buy them all at once: Both Alesis and M-Audio have recently launched kits that combine pretty much everything you would need in one package. Both include one microphone, but the Alesis USB Podcasting Kit includes an 8-channel mixer and costs $499; the mixer would be very useful if you might need more than one microphone. The M-Audio Podcast Factory is cheaper (at $179.95), but doesn’t come with a mixer.
