August 17, 2006Canon Announces DC95 DVD Camcorder in UK
![]()
August 17, 2006 - Pocket-lint is now reporting the introduction of the Canon DC95, a new entry-level DVD camcorder. The specs indicate a model very similar to the DC100, already available in the UK. Features include true 16:9 widescreen capture, 25x optical zoom, electronic image stabilization, and a widescreen LCD.
Currently, Canon UK offers the same four DVD models currently available in the US market - the DC100, DC10, DC20, and DC40. However, the company has plans to replace these models by September with the second-generation models, the DC19, DC21, and DC22. All new models feature 2.2 MP CCDs and can now read DVD-R Dual Layer discs. The DC22 also offers an analog input.
Canon USA chose to shrink their DVD line, and announced plans earlier this month to replace the DC10 and DC20 with a single model, the U.S. edition of the DC22. This model shares the same specs and features as the UK edition, which also include Level Shot markers, zoom speed control, an RGB Color Filter, and red-eye reduction for still shooting.
Canon UK has stated that the DC95 will be available this month at approximately 300 pounds (US$568). Canon USA has announced no plans for a similar model as of this date.
