Canon doubled its DVD line recently with two new models, the DC40 (Review, Specs, $539.99), and a new entry-level, the DC100. Entry level models often have a difficult time distinguishing themselves from the pack: they must be easy enough for the novice but have the solid performance necessary to satisfy the knowledgeable yet budget-oriented. No matter which group you find yourself in, we wish to impart this one little nugget of information: the DC100 is not worth it. At only $20 more (street price), you can pick up the DC10, which has a larger imager, flash media for stills, and larger still sizes. The DC100 was obsolete before it ever hit the shelves.
