Canon HV10 vs.Sony HC3 for Pro's

Posted by Emily Price

Sure your 3-chip professional camcorder is great, but it’s also pretty bulky. You more than likely don’t want to haul it around everywhere you go but you still come upon situations where you wish you had it to record a shot or an impromptu event. For those moments many of us decide to carry around a smaller high-quality consumer cam. Two popular choices currently are the Sony HDR-HC3 and the Canon HV10.

Both camcorders are pocket sized and give you HD recording for around the same price. Tim Sassoon over at DV.com did a pretty good side by side review of both camcorders. In the end he says that he would prefer the HV10 over the HC3 for image quality, but contests that there are still situations where he would reach for the HC3 over the HV10. You can check out his full write-up here. You can also check out our reviews here (Canon HV10) and here (Sony HC3).
