Canon Japan Announces First Consumer HDV Camcorder

Posted by Robin Liss

While the information about the Japanese model is still breaking, Canon Japan has announced their first HD camcorder aimed at consumers, the HV10.  According to the company's Japanese website the camcorder uses a 1/2.7 in. CMOS chip 1080i interlaced chip, a first for Canon. The camcorder uses the "matchbox" vertical form factor similar to Canon's Optura line. Pricing information isn't clear yet and no information has been released yet on a US model.
