Canon has decided to update its standard definition DVD and MiniDV line, albeit reduced, rather than simply carrying over the previous year's models. The ZR960 MiniDV camcorder has been upgraded to include filter threads and Quick Start for faster start-up times. The DC410 and DC420 DVD camcorders are more similar to previous models, carrying over features like Advanced Zoom. (View Photo Gallery)
The DC410 has a 1/6-inch CCD with a 680,000 pixel count and a 41x Advanced Zoom (37x optical zoom), as well as a microphone jack. The DC420 has the same size sensor with a larger pixel count (1.07-megapixel), which allows for a 48x Advanced Zoom (37x optical zoom). While there's no mic jack on the DC420, it does have a USB connection. Both have SD/SDHC card slots.

The ZR960 is the sole model in Canon's MiniDV line-up, which has shrunk year over year as the popularity of tape diminishes. It, too, features a 41x Advanced Zoom (37x optical zoom) and a mic jack, but no headphone jack. All three camcorders have electronic image stabilization.
