Other FeaturesMemory Info
The Memory Info button is a slick, colorful screen that indicates exactly how much flash memory space you have already used, and how much more you can fit, both in GB and in minutes, as well as how many photos you can fit.
Battery Info
The Battery Info, like Memory Info, is a screen that indicates how much battery time you have remaining (in minutes) in a colorful and attractive graphic.
Video Snapshot Mode
The Video Snapshot mode is a new feature for 2009. When activated via a button in the LCD cavity, it shoots in a continuous series of 4-second clips. Think of it as a forced method of preventing the typical long, boring shots that make up the average home movie. You can then import the series of clips onto your computer and throw on one of ten included soundtracks. Or, if you don't trust your camcorder's taste in music, you can drop in a .WAV file.
Face Detection
This is another new feature for Canon in 2009, one every manufacturer seems to have embraced at this point. Canon tries to distinguish itself by claiming detection of up to 35 faces as once. How ofter will you have 35 faces in one shot? We can't answer that, nor can we put this feature to the test. However, it does draw a border around to 9 faces at once. When faces are detected, it corrects for focus and exposure.
Super OIS (Optical Image Stabilization)
The Canon HF S10 includes the return of Canon's trade-named optical image stabilization system.
