Convert AVCHD files with Elecard Converter Studio v1.1

Posted by Brian Liloia

Despite some of the conveniences of the AVCHD format, there is still no way to edit the footage from one of your fancypants ACVHD camcorders. However, Russian company Elecard has developed Converter Studio version 1.1, an application that converts AVCHD video to MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 and MPEG-2 formats. Although not the most direct of solutions, this software will at least convert your video into something vastly more usable with most NLEs. Unfortunately, the software is fairly steeply priced, with prices beginning at about $240. Converter Studio version 1.1 is PC-only, and is part of a suite of other applications including Converter Studio Pro and Converter Studio ProHD.

Don't forget, there are other ways around the AVCHD conversion issue, but it's a bit of work and may not be worth the trouble.
