April 5th, 2006 - Eyespot Corporation has just announced the first online video editing and sharing community in beta version, Eyespot.com, a move that comes in the footsteps of video sharing communities like youtube.com and myspace.com that provide a platform for video sharing. The key difference between Eyespot.com and these sites is the inclusion of an editing system within the website so that users can sample, mix and re-edit their own video footage along with open-source community video file.
Eyespot.com has a simple and intuitive structure that will appeal to the video enthusiast looking for an uncomplicated way to upload, share and edit video files being captured with newer technology devices which include cell phones, digital cameras and of course camcorders. Eyespot.com supports a wide range of video file formats so that users will be able to sample and upload AVI, MPEG, MOV, WMV, MP3, JPEG, and GIF files. The Eyespot website can run in both Internet Explorer and Firefox and on either Mac or PC platforms.

Jim Kaskade, co-founder, president and CEO of Eyespot points out that, “until Eyespot, the concept of shooting a video, editing it, mixing in music, and sending it to a friend’s mobile phone in less than five minutes seemed impossible.” With Eyespot users can collaborate with one another on video mixes from personal sources, as well as the community and other open source peer-to-peer networks. Following the completion of a video, the new mix is posted to either public groups or individual blogs where other users can then remix and repost footage using their own video and audio samples.
Signing up for Eyespot is free of cost and users will not be required to download software since all editing, mixing, uploading and downloading is done within the Eyespot.com beta website.
