- Fuji today announced the release of a Fujifilm Professional Grade HDV videotape, which will be on display at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show.

Tom Daly, Director of Marketing for Professional Markets, said in a press statement “HDV offers a new way to capture and display high-quality high-definition images. By introducing Fujifilm professional HDV media, video professionals will have greater access to this increasingly popular format.”

The difference between standard definition MiniDV tapes and the new Fujifilm tapes are few and subtle. Both are the same size, 6.35mm, and fit in the same decks. Standard DV tapes are already capable to capturing HD footage. Tapes specially-tailored for HDV offer improved error correction and enhanced resistance to dropouts.

The Fuji HDV tapes will become available in early June 2006.
