How Much Money Do Metacafe Users Make

One million dollars – that’s how much Metacafe contributors have earned since the video hosting platform launched in Oct. 2006. Of the 550 people who uploaded original videos that went viral, one particular producer earned more than $80,000. Seven people earned more than $20,000, while 21 people earned more than $10,000. Forty-four uploaders made more than $5,000. Among the most popular videos are MacGyver-type how-to's, stunt videos, educational videos, and funny clips.

 

Users can earn money through the Metacafe Producer Rewards program. For each short video that receives more than 20,000 views, the creator earns $5 for every 1,000 views after the 20,000-visitor mark. The program allows uploaders to earning money back for their videos if they viral.
