Hulu to open to public in March
Posted by Karen M Cheung
Hulu, the video player for TV episodes and feature films, announced that it will launch officially in March with a public version, said CTO Eric Feng in an interview with TechCrunch. Hulu has been in private beta testing since November, used by hundreds of thousands of users. Since then, the amount of content on the site has tripled for viewing and sharing. With partners including AOL, Comcast, MSN, MySpace, and Yahoo, Hulu serves as a database and player for current and previous seasons of popular television shows. Hulu just added RSS feeds so users can see updated content as it happens. As for future plans, the company is working on overlays ads and movie trailers for revenue and experimenting on taking the site international. Hulu will support high definition video within the year. The company anticipates more content to increase, especially when the Hulu opens its doors to the public in the spring.
