November 14, 2007- Samsung’s latest pair of SD card-based camcorders, the SC-MX10 and high definition SC-HMX10, will ship with a full suite of Cyberlink video editing and post production software, including PowerDirector 6 and PowerProducer 4.3. When released, the SC-MX10 and SC-HMX10 will offer one of the most advanced in-the-box consumer post production solutions when compared to Sony, Canon, and Panasonic. Currently, JVC also includes Cyberlink software with its entire Everio line. As consumer-generated video becomes more ubiquitous and the editing savvy of the everday user increases, manufacturers may be expected to include more robust software in the box with their camcorders.
Cyberlink PowerDirector 6 transcends rudimentary “trim and export” capabilities by offering a vast library of transitions, effects, and templates. The latest version also features a revamped “Magic Movie Wizard” toolbar conducive to beginners for adding instant, automatic adjustments such as image sharpness, contrast, exposure, and even stabilization. Users can also publish directly to YouTube, write back to HDV tape, burn to DVD, or export as an iPod or PSP file. PowerDirector 6 also supports AVCHD footage, however there are a few caveats—a free update must be installed and PowerDirector is only capable of importing AVCHD footage and converting it to HD MPEG-2 before any editing can be accomplished.
PowerDirector 4.3 is a DVD authoring program that enables users to export HD video to Blu-Ray discs, HD DVDs, DVDs, VCDs, or CDs. The “Magic Movie” tools are also available in PowerProducer, and users can capture footage from an HDV camcorder, DV camcorder, TV, VCR, or webcam in real time using the “Right-to-Disc” feature. A DVD menu tool allows users to add background music, slideshows, and motion. The SC-MX10 and SC-HMX10 will also ship with PowerDVD 7.3, which supports commercial DVD playback and AVCHD video.
