February 20, 2007 – Lexar introduced two new SDHC-compatible card readers today in Fremont, CA that are designed to offer increased download speeds over previous devices.  In a statement, John Omvik, Director of Professional Product Marketing at Lexar said, “I can now download an entire shoot from our new 300x Professional UDMA cards in half the time I could with our previous generation of products. This is a tremendous time savings, especially for sports shooters and other pros on a tight deadline.”  The new Professional Dual-Slot Reader offers enhanced download speeds when used with 133x SDHC flash memory cards, a boon to users of flash-based camcorders.

The Professional Dual-Slot Reader is compatible with a wide range of flash memory card formats, including SD, SDHC, CompactFlash and UDMA-enabled CompactFlash memory cards.  The reader connects to a PC via a USB 2.0 connection, and has a compact form factor that lends itself to on-the-road use.  Both the SD/SDHC and CompactFlash slots can be accessed concurrently, enabling download from two cards at once.

The Professional UDMA FireWire 800 Reader is a stackable unit that can be daisy-chained, and allows for up to four concurrent downloads from linked readers. This reader is compatible with CompactFlash Type I and Type II, MicroDrives, and UDMA-enabled CompactFlash cards. One-meter and 18-centimeter FireWire 800 cables are included with the unit, and the reader can be used with FireWire 400 connections with an adapter cable.

The Professional Dual-Slot USB Reader reaches store shelves in June at an MSRP of $49.99; the Professional UDMA FireWire 800 Reader goes on sale in April at an MSRP of $79.99. System requirements for these readers are Windows XP or later or Mac OS 10.2.8 or higher.
